The aroma of gorditas and tamales will blend with the sounds of banda
and salsa music at the Nevada Hispanic Services’ Annual Salsa Y Salsas!
Festival.
Participate in an event that will bring the unique flavor of the Hispanic
culture of the Americas to Carson City. We will have Artists, Live
Music, Folkloric Dancers, Food Vendors, and both Salsa Dance and Salsa
Tasting Contests.
The Salsa Y Salsas! Festival is proud to present the full-flavored
sounds of today’s mariachi music by Lety La Voz de Nevada y Los Casadores de
Nevada.
The Plaza Amphitheater will host a variety of musical talent, including
contemporary songs by young up-and-coming star Rosella Nuñez and the exciting
salsa sound of the Orquesta Borinquin.
A Latin DJ will spin tunes for the Salsa Dance Competition. All ages
participate in this fast-paced high-energy challenge. Come on down and
try it! Or relax and cheer on your favorite couples. Local favorites, Jo Ann
Grace and Ray
Cammilleri, who teach Salsa Dance at Comma Coffee, will organize the Salsa Dance
Competition.
Both the Ballet Folklorico Internacional and the Latin Energy Dancers
will fill the Amphitheater stage with color and movement. These dancers
in their colorful costumes will dazzle and divert you with their
intricate rhythms. The Ballet Folklorico is a well known troupe and has
performed all over the western U.S., while Latin Energy is a local youth
dance group sponsored by NHS. Additional entertainment will be provided
by the appearance of Caminos Del Arte (Ways of the Arts) from Salinas,
California.
In addition to great food and great family entertainment, you can sample
or try your hand at the Salsa Tasting Contest. Hot or mild, red or
green, these salsas will please everyone’s palates. Anyone with a favorite
salsa recipe is encouraged to compete. We have a restaurant category,

New this year is the 1st annual Salsa Y
Salsas Show & Shine Car Show, presented by the Revelation Car Club of Reno.
Visit these great vehicles at the Ormsby House parking lot, just 2 blocks south
of the Festival. For more info on the Revelation Car Club, contact Tony

Admission to the Salsa Y Salsas! Festival is FREE with plenty of
free parking nearby, across Carson Street or across Fifth Street or in
the Legislative Parking Garage on Stewart Street. The event runs from 10 AM to 5
PM.

eleventh annual Salsa Y
Salsas! Festival. This is a family-oriented non-alcohol weekend
event. The Salsa Y Salsas! Festival will take place Saturday,
September 16, 2006 in the park-like setting of the Legislative
Plaza. It is an opportunity for the entire community to showcase the
positive aspects of our cultural diversity while supporting a local
non-profit agency.
We need your participation! You have the unique opportunity to sponsor
