This is for the youth. We welcome constructive feedback in our efforts online and offline. If you’re not a Youth, you were before. So tap into your youth drive and let us know some of your thoughts and ideas as we prepare youth for a positive future through activities, programs and information.

Welcome to the Community Council on Youth website.

It is our hope that through this website, interested community members can learn about significant issues effecting the health and well-being of youth in Carson City, opportunities to work with our coalition to shape a healthy environment for youth, and resources that promote health for youth and families.

CCOY is comprised of community members that include representatives from city government, prevention programming, parents, youth, law enforcement, media, our Native American communities, our faith communities, and health and humans services.

CCOY, in collaboration with local service providers, strives to meet the needs of youth at risk of engaging in problem behavior, such as using or experimenting with alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, and to bring prevention services to those youth not yet engaging.

CCOY Vision Statement:

To contribute to the advancement of safe and healthy community that works together to support the welfare and ideals of youth and their families.

CCOY Mission Statement:

Incorporated in 1989 to serve the entire Carson City area, CCOY is a grass roots organization whose mission is "Working for the Advancement of Youth".

CCOY Purposes:

1. To receive information and comments from local youth and adults to the interests and needs of Carson City regarding youth issues, programs and activities.

2. To promote and support youth programs in the community through donations, grants, technical assistance and adult and youth volunteer services.

3. To help plan and coordinate youth activities and programs that are determined to be needed but are not currently available to the youth in our community.

4. To promote meaningful and effective relations between all volunteer groups, youth organizations, youth services agencies and other person and organizations interested in the community's youth.

5. To increase understanding within the community of the issues and needs of our youth and to seek greater community support of programs for youth through an ongoing working partnership between the youth and adults of this community.
