You MUST try this new restaurant! It's perfect in every way; excellent food at amazingly low prices in a gorgeous environment with great service!
The new decor is very upscale with great attention to detail. We appreciated the lovely (and heavy) window treatments that blocked out the street noise and view; it's nice to not see cars and people looking at you while you're trying to eat.
The Asian music that was playing was soft and and pleasant. How nice to hear Yo-Yo Ma's expert cello playing Silk Road arrangements instead of enduring Asian-sounding remakes of popular American songs.
The new carpet and wall treatments are gorgeous, and we really appreciated the cloth napkins AND the discreetly placed Kleenex boxes near every seat, what a great idea! Why don't all restaurants serving spicy food do this? No more blowing your nose in a flimsy paper napkin, or worse, in your good cloth napkin. Brilliant!
The service was phenomenal, but more importantly, so was the food. We loved the "Asian Fusion" variety available, from pad thai to General's Chicken to Pho soup!
And speaking of soup, we sampled the Rare Steak & Well-done Brisket Pho and were thrilled with the complex flavors of the broth and the generous serving of meat. This was a perfect example of what excellent Pho should be.
We had the Genghix Fusion sampler appetizer and were very happy with it; the huge prawns in delicate panko crust were a highlight. No heavy greasy batter with a minuscule amount of shrimp here! And it was only $7.95!
We really enjoyed the Beef Chow Fun; the portion, especially the meat, was generous, and cooked to perfection; the noodles were exquisite and the sauce delightful. Again, just $7.95!
But the biggest and best surprise of the night was the Spicy Eggplant. We have never, in all of our Asian food experiences, tasted eggplant this good. We could not stop eating it. It was the single best example of Asian Spicy Eggplant we've ever had in our lives, and we WILL be going back for it again and again; and at just $6.95, we can afford to have this dish whenever the mood strikes!
We didn't think anything could top our food experience that night, but our wonderful waiter brought us a surprise to end our meal; a generous bowl of succulent, ripe slices of strawberries and a side of an amazing mint sauce. We have never tasted anything as unexpectedly delicious as that sauce; it complimented the strawberries perfectly and was a fun, refreshing way to cleanse our palates. (And it was complimentary!)
We left the restaurant in a daze of happiness; how glorious to find something so unexpected in this boring old spot on 395. We know a lot of restaurants have come and gone from this particular space, but this is one that we hope will stay for years to come.
We will be going back... again and again and again, as will you, too, once you stop in for lunch or dinner and try the amazing new Genghix Asian Fusion restauran
